ALGX VBIO is a bio-based and biodegradable resin derived from green algae, developed by Eranova.

The algae used to make ALGX is harvested and subjected to starch enrichment using a patented process in large ponds. This process is highly efficient and produces 20 times more biomass than current land-based plant crops.

The extracted starch is transformed into a biodegradable or durable bioplastic formulation that enhances the mechanical properties of current bioplastics by 15%.

ALGX comes in 4 grades of resin. The biodegradable (VBIO) version can be used to manufacture products such as meal trays, garbage bags, and other short-life packaging materials using injection molding, extrusion or thermoforming processes.
